Tails: Version 7.9 released
By SecBurg
Tails is a portable operating system that protects against surveillance and censorship by routing all traffic through Tor and leaving no trace on the host system.
The Tails security team has published an advisory for known security vulnerabilities in Tails 7.8.1. No specific CVEs are listed in the advisory itself - the affected components are covered by recent Debian security advisories published after the 7.8.1 release, as well as fixes included in the updated Tor Browser 15.0.16 shipped with Tails 7.9.
Tails 7.9 was released on June 18, 2026 and fixes all known vulnerabilities in 7.8.1. Automatic upgrades are available for systems running Tails 7.0 or later.
You should upgrade as soon as possible.
