curl v8.23.0 released
By SecBurg
curl is the swiss army knife for transferring data with URLs - a command line tool and the libcurl library behind it.
The new v8.23.0 release fixes no less than 24 vulnerabilities - so many that they are not listed individually in the release post, check the curl security page for details. On top of that, 281 bugfixes landed.
Notable changes:
CURL_GLOBAL_WIN32 is deprecated in favor of the more accurately named CURL_GLOBAL_WINSOCK (used with curl_global_init)
SMB(S) support is gone - neither curl nor libcurl support these protocols anymore
the tool's --no-clobber option now inserts the number into the file name as "-[number]" before the file extension, and tries up to 9999 numbers before giving up
Check out the release blog post and the full changelog for all the details.
Happy curling! :-)
