KeePassXC v2.8.0 released
By SecBurg
KeePassXC is the free, open source and cross-platform password manager.
Version 2.8.0 is the first stable release of the new 2.8 series. The biggest change under the hood is the migration from Qt5 to Qt6. On the feature side there is Auto-Type on Wayland via XDG Desktop Portals, configurable keyboard shortcuts, remote database synchronization with external tools and SSH Agent key generation (RSA, ECDSA, Ed25519).
Several security issues were fixed as well, all of them rated low to moderate and affecting 2.7.x and earlier. Among them are a use-after-free and an integer overflow with out-of-bounds read in the legacy KDB importer, an entry reference injection via the browser extension and out-of-bounds writes in the native messaging encryption. The devs recommend updating anyway.
Other highlights:
Linux: Quick Unlock using Polkit, experimental AArch64 AppImage
macOS: Quick Unlock with device password when Touch ID is unavailable
Windows: native Arm64 builds, settings enforcement via Group Policy
Clone Entry shortcut changed to Ctrl+D
Passkey and TOTP entry counts in database statistics
